Internet of Things – IoT: How Everyday Devices Become Smart

About this Course

This course introduces participants to the Internet of Things (IoT) and explains how physical devices use sensors, data, communication networks, and automated reactions to become “smart” systems.

Participants learn how IoT systems work through a simple data flow: collecting information from the physical environment, sending it for processing, making decisions based on data, and triggering a reaction.

The course covers key IoT components, including sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, software, and communication protocols. Participants also explore real-world applications in smart homes, healthcare, agriculture, education, industry, and smart cities.

By the end of the course, participants understand how to design a simple IoT system by identifying a problem, selecting the needed data and sensors, choosing how data will be transmitted, and defining the system response.

This course is part of the High-Tech Youth Caravan – FabMobile BiH project, implemented with the support of the BOOST Balkans initiative, coordinated by ALDA Balkans and funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
