About
How can I use Maker?
You can search or browse manufacturing processes, materials, machines, or equipment that you need. This can be useful for anything you are currently doing. For more details on how to use the search, see [link] Once you find a supplier that meets your needs, you can contact them directly and start working.
Why is this beneficial to you?
Locating makers, manufacturers, or workshops in your area can be challenging and time-consuming. Many are situated in industrial zones and are difficult to find through a simple Google search. We have conducted thorough research and compiled a list of manufacturers and makers for your convenience, allowing you to easily access and delve into the processes, materials, machines, and individuals required for making, manufacturing, or repairing. By supporting local manufacturing and creativity, you contribute to the growth of the local economy and community, while also fostering local connections and collaboration.
Do we sell products from local designers, makers, and artists?
No, we do not sell them. Maker is exclusively focused on solving practical issues related to the creative processes.
What if I'm not sure which process, material, or machine I'm looking for?
First, please review our instructions. You can choose to skip most items and update your profile later.
Requests
Will the maker sponsor the production of my product?
Maker does not sponsor the development of prototypes, products, or artworks.
I am a student, researcher, or part of an artistic organization or business. I am interested in the Maker's work for my project. Can we meet to discuss this further?
We want to share as much knowledge as we have gathered. Due to the large number of these requests, we cannot accommodate every individual. We will do our best to respond to your inquiries, but please review the information available on our website first.
How can I publish my business, club, association, workshop, or maker space on Maker?
Check if you meet the requirements and register, then add your maker space through a simple form. After verification, additional media content and descriptions will become available.
Can the maker personally introduce me to another maker?
Please contact your local Maker to inquire if they would be open to facilitating a personal introduction between users and the mentioned makers.
Why are we free of charge?
Maker is free to use, and we do not charge any fees to be listed here. We provide access to the maker database for free as it's the most democratic way to ensure the platform is accessible to everyone. Makers are listed based on their skills and quality, rather than any other criteria or paid advertisement.
I would like Maker to publish or promote my business. What can you offer me?
Maker is not a platform for advertising. We can improve the visibility of your business if you meet our inclusion criteria (check if you meet the requirements, and depending on relevance, you may be mentioned in our blog).
General
Maker platform
Maker serves as a public platform for all makers with a mission to make local manufacturing more accessible. By registering a diverse range of makers, the platform automatically clusters them on multiple levels: by geographic location, equipment, machines and/or materials, manufacturing processes, and/or finished products. The platform enables individuals and companies to find and directly connect with makers, workshops, manufacturers, and producers.

Where did the idea for Maker come from?
[The Maker movement ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maker_culture) originated in the 1990s, gaining momentum after 2005 due to the widespread availability of STEM education, open-source hardware, and digital manufacturing. The inaugural Maker Faire took place in California in 2006.
There are various levels of workshops or makerspaces
Our mission includes influencing creation and innovation processes, as well as making technology and STEM fields more accessible to the public. The transition from traditional manufacturing in factories to local production or "making anywhere and anytime" is a global change that has a positive impact on the local economy, promoting sustainability and supporting small businesses. One of our ideas is to create a vertical classification center for local innovation: - Makers - individuals with narrowly specialized workshops - Makerspaces - workshops with access to innovative techniques - FabLab - advanced laboratories focusing on Industry 4.0 and 5.0 - Technology Park - Innovation Center
For whom is the Maker?
Maker is designed for individuals (professionals), clubs or associations, craftsmen, startup companies, and innovative firms working on custom orders and small production runs. We aim for Maker to be used by everyone.
Why is Maker important?
Manufacturers, workshops, makers, and artisans are all around us. We want to showcase their locations and skills, and most importantly, demonstrate how easy it is to collaborate with them to promote sustainable and local creation, thus supporting small businesses and the economy.
