Published at: May 27th 2024
We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the project "Resilience of Makerspaces in V4 and B&H (Maker #2)", financed by the Visegrad Fund, culminating in a final event held on May 11th-12th, 2024, at Maker Faire Prague in the Křižík Pavilions at the Prague Exhibition Centre. More than 900 makers gathered on May 11th and May 12th, and nearly 12,000 enthusiastic visitors arrived. FabLab BiH, in partnership with organizations FabLab Budapest, FabLab Bratislava,
Robisz.to, and Maker More (Maker Faire Prague organization), has entered the last phase of the project, resulting in the launch of the beta version of the new regional interactive Maker community platform.
Maker platform serves as the central hub for maker spaces, allowing members to share information, ideas, projects, and educational resources, thus encouraging collaboration and networking opportunities.
The two-day event in Prague brought together maker spaces from the Visegrad Group (V4) region and Bosnia and Herzegovina for a workshop session led by industry experts. This session provided a structured environment for maker spaces to collaborate, share ideas, and receive valuable feedback and support from experts in the field.
On 25th May, FabLab Sarajevo hosted the spectacular third Sarajevo Maker Faire in the Botanical Garden of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina attracting a remarkable 3,000 visitors. The event showcased around 50 exhibitors presenting futuristic innovations, along those FabLab Sarajevo presented novel regional Maker platform.
The success of Maker Faire Prague and Sarajevo Maker Faire emphasizes the importance of providing platforms for creators to display their creativity, share ideas, and motivate each other. As we move forward, let's continue to nurture and support such efforts, promoting a culture of innovation and creativity that crosses borders, and empowering individuals to have a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
The platform is set for the official launch on 14th June, and online dissemination in five countries will begin. Partners are committed to supporting and further developing the platform after the end of the project.
The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia through Visegrad Funds from International Visegrad Funds. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
